The December 2002 issue of American Cinematographer had a great article on the film. It was shot on Kodak 5279 500t, 5289 800T, and 5285 100d Ektachrome. Some bleach bypass for the neg stocks and cross processing of the ektachrome. Great story and an amazing job of cinematography.
I was the film loader for the one day that they shot in Detroit. Most of the film ws shot in toronto. The splitscreen stuff with Jason Patric only was Detroit. Some shots of a police station exterior and Jason Patric with the city skyline were also Det. The D.P. operated a moviecam compact himself mostly hand held. My only problem with the film, no onscreen credit for the Detroit unit. Alas, my mother in law will continue to think I do not really work for living.

Hey,
NARC turned out to be a damn good film, I must say. I was really interested in the way it was filmed. does anyone have any input on this? The whole movie looks as if it were shot hand-held (95% of the time) and either shot with a filter to tone the film bluish and very monotone or a film like Ektachrome, but do they make Ektachrome for 35mm? Stupid question, probably.
Anyway, good techniques made this film look as if it were a student film. does anyone think this was shot on 16mm?
